Ingredients for making onion-tomato chutney
Tomato – 2
Onion – 1
Coconut grated – 1/4 cup
Urad Dal – 1 tsp
Ginger – 1 inch piece
Tamarind – 1 small piece
Dry Kashmiri red chili – 3-4
Turmeric – 1/4 tsp
Oil – 2 tsp
salt – as per taste

for tempering
Rai – 1 tsp
Dry red chili – 2
Curry leaves – 8-10
Urad Dal – 1/2 tsp
Oil – 2 tsp

How to make Onion-Tomato Chutney
To make onion and tomato chutney, first wash tomatoes and cut into fine pieces. After this, peel off the onion and cut it into fine pieces. Now put 2 spoons of oil in a pan and heat it. After the oil is hot, add 1 teaspoon urad dal, 4 dry red chilies and fry till it turns golden brown. After this, add finely chopped onion and fine pieces of ginger to the pan and fry while stirring well.
When the onions start to change color, add finely chopped tomatoes to the pan and mix them well and cook. Cook the tomatoes till they become soft and pulpy. After this add turmeric, a piece of tamarind and salt as per taste to the pan and let it cook for some more time. When the mixture is roasted well, add grated coconut to it and mix with the help of a ladle, turn off the gas after 1 minute and let the mixture cool down.

When the mixture cools down, put it in a blender and blend it till it becomes smooth. If needed, one or two spoons of water can also be added. Now take out the chutney paste in a bowl. After this heat oil to make tadka. When the oil becomes hot, add mustard seeds, urad dal, curry leaves and dry red chillies and fry them. When the tempering starts spluttering, pour it over the chutney and spread it all around. Onion-tomato chutney rich in taste and nutrition is ready.
